Process & Story Behind the Artwork
The inspiration for the Sea Turtle T Shirt design came from my love of tropical flowers. I love painting watercolor flowers and I love the beach. While driving one day, I was thinking about how I wanted the design to look and I got the idea to create a silhouette of tropical flowers.
Story Behind the Artwork
I fell in love with the ocean when I was a child. I spent many weekends at the beach and I still remember begging not to go home. When I first saw a sea turtle in real life, I was mesmerized by its beauty.
I always loved to draw and I loved animals. My favorite channel was animal planet, so I would often sit and draw while watching ocean documentaries. This led to me sketching dolphins, sharks, sea turtles etc.
Sea Turtle Merch Creative Process
After I got home, I sat down at my desk and sketched the sea turtle silhouette onto my watercolor paper. Next, I decided on my color palette. I wanted the design to be bright & colorful, so I selected colors that felt like summer.
I painted with gouache and watercolor to give a loose and beachy vibe.
Sea Turtle Tee Shirts for Beach Lovers
Because this sea turtle artwork is made for beach lovers, I wanted it to make the perfect beach vacation shirt. Although I have many sea turtle t shirt designs, I think that this sea turtle tee is the one I am the most proud of.
